Can It Really Be 40 Years?
We’re incredibly excited to welcome Cappers, together with friends of The Program, to Hua Hin as we celebrate 40 years of friendships, memories, and the unique bond we all share. We’ve deliberately kept the programming light because the weekend is really about reconnecting — plenty of time to catch up with old friends, meet Cappers from different years, explore Hua Hin, enjoy the spa, or simply relax by the beach or pool.

The Standard, Hua Hin

Core Dates: Friday, March 5 – Sunday, March 7, 2027.
- Fri, Mar 5: Welcome Beach Party & Dinner from 5:00 pm — a casual party about 20 minutes from the hotel with dinner, drinks, a DJ and time to reconnect.
- Sat, Mar 6: Pool & Beach Day at The Standard, followed by sundowners and a beachfront BBQ, with a tribute to Bob Bagshaw.
- Thu, Mar 4: Optional early arrival activities — golf at a world-class Hua Hin course, or a guided walkabout in Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park.

Everything you need to know about travel, food, and the weekend.
The easiest option is to grab a car via the ride-hailing apps Grab or Bolt. Install the apps before you land and plug in a credit card. It’s incredibly easy and much cheaper than Uber in N. America. Hua Hin is about 225 km from Bangkok and takes roughly 3 hours depending on the time of day (Bangkok traffic can still be intense!). Expect to pay around THB 2,000.
An alternative is to take the train. The tracks have recently been upgraded and it's a quick, pleasant ride these days. Visit the D-Ticket Railway Website or download the D-Ticket app to book. Don't try any other third-party method to book trains.
Tip: There is a morning train at 7:30 am, but it is very popular—book well ahead to secure your seats!

There is an insane range of food options in Bangkok these days! We will just mention a few classics.

Laab Ubon : An Isan restaurant on Sathorn where a lot of Cap get-togethers happen. Very local vibe—a fave if you are hankering for BBQ chicken, papaya salad, and sticky rice. (Pro tip: order the corn salad!)

Sanguan Sri (สงวนศรี) : Ian's favorite old-school place for a Thai lunch. Note that there is no English sign outside! Open 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Mon–Sat. Wildly popular, so head over around 11:00 am to get a table, and be sure to check the daily specials. Everything is made completely from scratch, which is rare these days. (Michelin Bib Gourmand)

Early March is the tail end of "winter" and transitioning into the hot season. It’s still one of the nicest times of the year to visit, and rain is basically an impossibility!
Pollution from seasonal crop burning can occasionally be felt in Bangkok and up north at that time of year, but coastal Hua Hin stays relatively fresh. In fact, there's a reason King Rama VII built his summer palace here named Klai Kangwon—which translates in Thai to "Far From Worry."
